The 2017 Season of “A Stage of Our Own” theater collective opens with a special version of “Twelve Nights with Viola & Olivia” by local playwright Hannah Miyamoto.

In an enchanted town during the Italian Renaissance, a beautiful countess meets a boy, falls in love, and ask him to marry her. However, her true love is really a girl.¬†“Twelve Nights with Viola & Olivia” retells the story of the love between two noblewomen in Shakespeare’s “Twelfth Night” features the Elizabethan verse of writer Hannah Miyamoto to challenge the notion that same-sex relationships are contrary to the “traditional values” of Anglo-American society.
